"We come out here at night and it's quiet. There are no lights shining, just the stars. We're away from it all, yet everything we need is a five minute drive from here"
Cathy and Danny Acchiones' Woodbridge home was
slowly being surrounded by apartment buildings,
townhomes and the increased traffic that goes along
with high density housing. They've had planning to
start winding down at their beauty products manufacturing
company, Enzyme Canada, and they were at
that stage in their lives where they wanted a smaller
home in a quieter setting. Then an

acquaintance told them about a sign he'd seen advertising
Berkshire Homes' Bateman Lane community. Danny
went to take a look, but hesitated because he wasn't
sure they were ready to uproot themselves just yet.
But when Cathy and
Donatto went to
look at Berkshire
Homes' model home,
they were impressed with the quality. They began to think if they
didn't make a move now they probably never would.
In deciding to move forward with the purchase of a
home in Bateman Lane, the couple chose the

Avondale model because they liked the large window
and vaulted ceiling at the
front of the house and how
the bedrooms were situated
away from the main
living area. While the couple
did upgrade their
kitchen, they chose not to
opt for the loft and have no
immediate plans to finish
their lower level, because
there are just the two of
them and they don't feel
they need the extra space.
Cathy and Danny recently
moved into their home and
Cathy says they are pleased with their whole experience
with Berkshire Homes and in particular, they
have found the sales staff to be very helpful. The couple
appreciates the spaciousness of their new home
and Cathy notes,
"I was a bit concerned
that my
kitchen was
going to be too
small, but I

was
surprised when
we moved in how spacious it is." The emphasis
Berkshire Homes places on energy efficiency is
also important to the couple. Cathy really likes
her home's heat recovery ventilation system
(H.R.V.) and the way the air circulates all the
time.
But perhaps the thing the Acchiones appreciate
most about their new home is its' tranquil, natural
setting. The couple enjoy their quiet backyard
that looks out onto the conservation area and in contrast
to

their previous home, they don't look out onto
any neighbouring homes.
The only thing the
Acchiones, who are both
still working, find lacking
in their new lifestyle is
the time to fully enjoy the
beauty that surrounds
them and to explore the trails throughout the community.
But they both agree that day will come...it's just
a matter of time... and at least
the time they do have is spent
surrounded by nature, instead of
concrete.
